Melanie is known mostly for her work in metals. She enjoys community based work and has taught art and design in schools and colleges for twenty years. She is also a partner in a design company.
The beautiful Tamar Valley is her home and she draws reference from all natural things that surround her, especially water and the sea, often siting this work in the urban environment.
“I enjoy flowing lines and three dimensional mark-making – predominantly interpreting aspects of the environment and nature. I work sometimes in a realistic way but mostly, my work is an interpretation of aspects remembered from a period spent living on the sea and close to the elements.”
Working with different materials, she makes public art and interior sculptures – including wall reliefs, predominantly in pewter metal.
