Melanie is an artist, known mostly for her work in metals – www.melanieguy.com. She has taught art and design in schools and colleges for twenty years and enjoys community based work. She is also a partner in a design company making children’s play environments in wood – www.alastairguy.co.uk
The beautiful Tamar Valley is her home and she draws reference from all natural things that surround her, especially water and sea, often siting this work in the urban environment – see St. Austell regeneration project.
“I enjoy flowing lines and three dimensional mark-making – interpreting aspects of the environment and nature. I work sometimes in a realistic way but mostly, my work is an interpretation of aspects remembered from a period spent living on a sailboat and close to the elements.”
Working with different materials, she makes sculptures – including wall reliefs, predominantly in pewter, for interior design projects.
